Well it is the first day of November and I have discovered a few things. One - my grandson is afraid of the woods around my house. He finally confessed that was the reason he closed the blinds in each room he was in. Poor kid! He's 8 so I will forgive him this goofey-ness as you can see through the woods to the road. Makes life interesting. And before anyone gets upset at me, I do not tease him about this, I just open the blinds when he leaves the room. I should say that he only closes them if he is by himself in the room.

Two - I am a hoarder. I confess. I have a supply of fabric and quilting supplies for 4 or 5 ladies. I also have more cross stitch supplies, charts, and fabric than any one person could use in a life time. I tried to give away to a stitcher the Hardangar and Aida but no one seems to want them so I will donate to the elementary school art teacher in PA. I also have a large amount of Longaberger Baskets. So many that I left a small group in Ohio with a friend and don't remember them. So I told her to keep them and do whatever she wants with them. My husband just looks at them and shakes his head. Oh well! such is life.

Three - I think I have lost my mind. I rejoined the church last December with some guidance from a stitching friend. Since then I have worked vacation bible school in June and now teach bible class to the 3rd graders in the church. Now you are probably thinking so... what's your point. I have been away from church (on any regular basis) for 40 years. (Yes, I am old!) I am not complaining. I am enjoying every minute I am there. The ladies of the church have taken me under their collective wings and gotten me into all this. We do have fun!

Hopefully blogger will let me upload some pictures that I tried to show last time. Well it must really hate me as it won't upload now either. Anyone in blogland have any answers for what I could possibly be doing wrong please let me know.

I will make a conserted effort to blog more often with pictures hopefully. I am making a trip up north to visit Mom for her birthday but that's in the middle of the month right before Thanksgiving.

Happy Stitching!
I have read many faithfully but I rarely leave a comment. Thank you Sherry I did receive your answer.

Here is a question for all of the stitchers out there. Would anyone like to have some Hardanger 22ct fabric? I also have some 18ct Aida to give away. No they don't have to go to the same person either. I am just trying to clean out a little of my stitching fabric stash that I know I won't use. The Hardanger is creme (beige) and the 18ct is white. No there are no hoops to jump through for this just let me know and I will send off. I will need your mail address though!

I did move into the Quilt Room and it is mostly straightened but...there are still a few places that need work. I made a quilt for a baby shower held at my church for one of the members. Baby is now 2 weeks old and just beautiful! I got to see Silver when she was 1 week old. Her first day in church!

Just when you think that you have a good schedule to sit and stitch or travel to the QR to cut/sew, the schedule gets changed again. You get to expect to have a nice quiet Sunday afternoon - husband at work no grandchild - when his mother gets her schedule changed. Then school starts for both of them - grandchild 5 days and daughter 2 days - so she works the other five. OK that works a little different but managable. Then the husband gets his schedule changed. Then changed again. Now changed again. I think this schedule may last for a week or two then change again. We are also in recreation football so put practice and homework in there too. Husband now leaves for work at 2p and gets home about 12:30a because he never gets out on time. Oh well! Such is life!

I have been stitching and maybe have a few pictures to prove it. Well evidently I cannot upload any pictures right now for some reason but know that I finished 'Matter's Choice' from Carriage House Samplings, 'This is the Day' magazine (those were both leftover from Crazy January Challenge 2011 leaving 4 more to finish) and 'Moon & Stars' from Little House Needleworks. I am working on Quaker Christmas II - Songs of the Season from ByGone Stitches and maybe have a quarter stitched.

Well I guess I will end this. Maybe I can get back to blogging more often and just go for short and sweet. If I am lucky maybe you will get PICTURES! I love to see pictures of your stitching so keep showing them.

Happy Stitching!
I made it to the mountains in record breaking time - a little over 6 hours! and actually that is pretty normal travel time. If any of you know TN Rt 411 off I40 you know that the road is narrow and winds this way and that. It is a pretty drive if you are a passenger - driver not so much. You do travel past the Bush Bean factory and gift shop eatery place which I have been to and is worth a trip to see. And yes, they do make a bean pie which is very sweet but does not have a lot of bean flavor and maybe that's a good thing!

Yes, I did finally get over the sinus infection - allergy thing I had going for so long. Now I just have a cough sometimes with a sneeze every now and then. All the health news you get this time.

There was lots of sewing done on the mountain top after we attended the quilt show in Pigeon Forge. I managed to sew 4 childrens quilt tops (7 sq x 9 sq all 6"). These tops were pined on top of fleece back which I sewed around and turned inside out and resewed the outer edge. They will now be hand tied by a dear man/husband who suffers from alzheimers. I finished a total of 10 with one completely machine quilted as it was a kit I was completing for the cabin owner. She very graciously donates these quilts to Michael's House in Greene Cty in Ohio and Care House in Montgomery Cty in Ohio. Each child who enters receives a quilt from say age 3 to 18. Unfortunately there are a lot of abused children and this is something that they can have just for themselves. She received a call saying they were out of quilts and did she have any more. Lucky for the children she had 2 trash bags at home and her daughter raced them over to the agency so no child would go without. We do make larger quilts for the older children but we seem to need more in the mid range - I'm not sure if this is good or bad.

My friend had thought to give up this quilt business and said something to one of the directors. She asked my friend if she noticed the 3 teen boys walking with the policeman. Each boy was offered a sport ball of their choice when one spotted the quilts in the same closet. He asked if he could have a quilt instead and was assured this was fine. He picked one and so did the other 2 boys and yes they also got a sport ball of their choice too. She hadn't noticed the quilts the boys had clutched under their arms. So we are still in business. I don't do as much as she and her group at home in Ohio do but I sew like crazy when I am with her. She has decided I can sew tops here as she will send me packets for tops and I can send them back. the only problem is she hates to sew the backs on. We had a plan when we were together. I sewed the tops and ironed (I am fast at both) and she would crawl on the floor and pin them to the backs.. She will have to do her own backs now!

The other 2 girls and I left for Ohio on Sunday (yes I attended church that evening) and I checked into the hotel, dropped everything off and hit the road again to visit with my Mom. Went everyday to see Mom thru Thursday and told her I was leaving the next day, Friday. Does Mom know who I am? No and yes, only that I am her daughter. She has no names for any of us and that's ok. She loves how I just pop in to see her - she loves my surprises. She is very healthy and best of all, she is safe!

Well here is the Queen'sRoom.

It has a step in front of it now and the electric is all hooked up. I have one specifically for a window airconditioner which I don't have yet. I have the curtain rods for the sides and back windows but not the doors. I have been slowly moving my things - stuff - in and Paul said he would make a big effort to work on the heavy stuff on Thursday when he is off work. I can't wait for it to be all moved in. The heaviest item will be the sewing cabinet - it's on wheels but it will be hard to roll thru sand so I don't kow who he will get to help him move it. I still have a closet full of fabric to move as only the baker's rack has been moved (the fabric from it not the rack itself). Most of the longebarger baskets have been moved and I will finish with those today and start on the fabric.

I did take everyone advice and stopped work on This is the Day until after I got back. I worked on Moon and Stars from Little House Needlework instead and got the border and a bit more done on it. I have since picked up This Day and finished the whole middle section! WooHoo! This is where I was but I am beyond that now.

The dog that is only partial is complete now. It's on the left side. Sorry these were taken with my phone and are not the best but I don't take very good pix at any time.

I guess I have chattered long enough for now. I really will try to post more often and talk about stitching instead of quilting but when you love both it's kind of hard to decide what to do when. I do look forward to getting my room all set up and ready as I have several quilts due - although the children aren't in college yet so I guess I still have some time.

HAPPY STITCHING!!!!!Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00624577865511619393noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6225800420798292036.post-7556030137868930542012-03-12T12:33:00.000-07:002012-03-12T12:33:20.014-07:00Little NewsI have just a little news and I have to clean house and pack yet so I will be short!

The Quilting Shed came and I will include a pic next time. It is Great and I can't wait to fill it with all (and I mean a lot) my stuff. I don't think there will be room to have classes but Oh Well. I'm not kidding on the classes part as that is what I did for about 15 years - teach quilting.

Paul is supposed to have the floor carpeted by the time I return. Maybe even some electric but I can use it as is because it does have some - outdoor electric cords are wonderful!

I am leaving for the mountains of TN tomorrow at 6:30a. Staying there thru Sunday. Driving to Ohio on Sunday where I will visit all. Coming back home on Friday the 23rd. I hope to have lots of good times to share with you.

In the mean time -

Happy Stitching!Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00624577865511619393noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6225800420798292036.post-31376999523688684322012-02-28T10:12:00.000-08:002012-02-28T10:12:06.979-08:00last time in FebruaryYes, this will be my last post this month.

I do have some news to share. Thank you for all of your comments re: Paul and the new job but... He decided after 4 days that it was not for him. We were texting furiously back and forth re: leaving the new job. He talked to his old job and they were HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY to have him back again. So he told the new company on Friday and started with the old company on Saturday. What a fast week! He is much happier now.

But through all of this he found me a shed for a quilt room. It has double doors on front and 3 windows. I just need to have more electric outlets installed and then electric run to the power box. Now I know that you are saying - A shed? well, it is vinyl sided, has a small loft and a work bench under the back window that runs from side to side. If the men deliver it soon, I will insert a picture of it. Please remember that I live in a single-wide trailer (trailer trash it is not!) so the bedrooms are very small. I will be able to have an actual guest room and a computer room in the house. The quiltroom will be just a very short walk through the backyard to get to all of the fun and games.

I made a picture of This Is The Day. It is not a good picture. The Oscars struck me bad. I was watching and not paying attention evidently because I had stitched 2 more windows and the crown over the door when I noticed that, oops, I was one thread over too far. So I spent the rest of the Oscars unstitching!

No I did not iron it and yes I left my needle in. I have stitched the first line in the over one which was the first time I have done this in a large stitching project. I have stitched over one on 28 ct but the whole project was over one. Make any sense out of this? I think I'm rambling. Oh well!

I am listening to JD Robb. I have been going through all of the IN DEATH series, in order, as much as I can. They are good listens. I haven't seen the new movie ONE FOR THE MONEY from Janet Evanovich. I don't know if I can get past the cast of characters. I pictured them all a certain way and that is not what is showing up on the screen. Oh well, I will probably see it sometime on DVD. Does anyone think Stephanie Meyers will make a 5th novel about Edward, Bella, and the baby grown up? I would love it as I have loved all of the books and the movies.

Well the delivery men are supposed to be here this hour (between 1 and 2) but you know men - sometimes they are where you want them when you want them and sometimes they aren't! Go figure! I may edit if they show up soon.

Thanks for stopping by.
Happy Stitching!Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00624577865511619393noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6225800420798292036.post-65805159385646275102012-02-21T09:03:00.000-08:002012-02-21T09:03:34.980-08:00Well now! Here we are again! Yes, I am better thank you. I am still not completely recovered but progressing nicely - as the doctor would say. I have seen them 3 times so far and am scheduled for 1 more visit this month. All I have to say is "I'm glad I have an Rx plan".

I think "This is the Day" and I are going to part ways for a little while as I am tired of it and it of me I'm sure. The fill-in on the top alphabets is a killer. But first before I set it aside I will go to another section and work on - maybe the house or maybe finish the over one. Maybe that will keep the mojo going.

My fingers are itching to start on Quaker Christmas II - Songs of the Season. I love the Quaker as you feel you have accomplished something when you get a motif finished! Happy Dance!

I am going to visit quilting friends in the mountains of TN in March. There is a quilt show we will attend then go up the mountain and stitch our little selves silly. We sew pillowcases by the tens, Care House quilts by the dozen hopefully and sew on our own projects too. I have nothing special of my own to sew right now so I will help sew Care House quilts from start to finish (except for tying). I may take along one unfinished quilt project and work on it in between. This is a very small group - only 4 of us now. When they started I couldn't join as I worked 3 jobs plus home life but there were probably 4 - 5 others. Needless to say we have a good time - laughing, talking, sewing, eating, watching movies, reading, watching for bald eagles, and looking at the lake! What a blessing!

Paul has started his new job. This is day 2! Can you really tell anything from just 1 day of meet and greet? We shall see.

The sun has disappeared behind some clouds or it has just turned overcast here. I haven't decided which. The temp is supposed to get to 66 so that is something to look forward to. I may have to sit and swing on the porch this afternoon. Yes, I will wear a sweatshirt jacket so I don't get a chill. (Man I sound like I'm about 80 instead of 60 but I am trying to get over this sickness!)

This is FAT TUESDAY so that means that Lent starts tomorrow with Ash Wednesday. Paul said I should give up 'bitching about everything' for Lent but I don't know - what fun would I have then? I thought I would try to not be a cranky pants (Sebastian tells me this all the time) but that probably falls into the bitchy category. What thinks you?

Sorry about no pics this time. I will send a pic of whatever I stitch on next time. I pinkie swear!
So...
Happy Stitching! my friendsSusanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00624577865511619393noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6225800420798292036.post-88907386493572314212012-01-28T11:11:00.000-08:002012-01-28T11:11:10.814-08:00Almost...Well, it is almost the end of January and here I am again. I have finally inserted a picture in my profile zone. It is a picture of Tina, a 12 week old pit bull but don't tell her that. She thinks she is a lap dog and no one is a stranger as all are put here for her pleasure of holding, petting, and playing. She lived with me for 4 days and was very spoiled by husband P and myself before we (I) gave her back to daughter C. She again lives with her brother Buster, sister Georgia, Mom and Dad, then human mom (my daughter C) and our grandson S. What a house full! Here is a picture of the three sibs!

Georgia is the black and white (image of her mother) and Buster has the brown ears and built just like his father. He is scared of his own shadow like his dad. Tina, the precious baby, was attacked by her Mom when she was 2 wks old and had to be rushed to the vet. We believe she is blind in her left eye or maybe just partially. She didn't nurse from Mom after that and can you blame her. C played Mom to her and with antibiotics and good food she is growing! She is still much smaller than her sibs and probably always will be. The mother and father are sweet dogs and the puppies are too! The end of puppies but I promise other pictures in the future!

I did make a picture of Days Past finished so here it is.

Yes it was done on 28ct Cashel Lt Sand so it is big! I have plans to stitch Christmas II Songs of the Season on 28ct Cashel Lt Sand also so they will match. Cute. I am currently working on This Is The Day which was started last year in the Crazy 15 starts in 15 days Challenge which I only managed to finish 9 so I am playing catch up WIPs with a few new ones thrown in this year. I am going to try to beat my record of 9 and finish 10! I'm not making a list this year, I'm just going for it and hope for the best.

Friends are planning a quilt retreat on the mountain in March and I hope to attend. It has been ok'd here by daughter and husband as they believe they can survive without me for a week or ten days as I will have to travel to Ohio to visit with my Mom in the home. I just have to find a place to stay while I am there.

This is day 8 of suffering from a sinus infection. Yes I finally visited with the Nurse Practioner and she visited with me. I think my husband was tired of listening to me cough and complain of the rip-roaring headache. I was the last to get this mess in the family and thought it was going to pass me by this year. No such luck. They (all 3) never ran a fever, coughed/hacked for hours, couldn't breath through the nose like me. Plus they were all over it in a few days! He hates it when I'm sick. Isn't that sweet? I made it to Mass last Sunday and I plan to attend tomorrow as I am feeling better. Almost but not quite human.

I have enjoyed viewing all of the latest on the blogs. There sure is some very pretting stitching going on. I don't comment often just every now and then so if you don't see me in your comments just know that I am thinking of you as I scurry on the the next blog.
I am so sorry for the delay. I was thinking about you and reading your blogs - usually no comments - but never bothered to update my own.

I did manage to finish 9 of the 15 day challenge from last January. That's pretty impressive for me. Here is the list of finished stitches with the date finished: Sampling Halloween 1-30-11, Quaker Christmas Sampler 2-14-11, Merry Christmas 2-27-11, Housework Never Killed Anyone 3-9-11, Holly & Berries 4-9-11, Crow 4-19-11, A Quaker Christmas 7-13-11, ABC Lessons 11-26-11, and finally Let Heaven & Nature Sing 12-30-11. I will show you pictures of the last three as all of the others are elsewhere here.

I have been busy with other things throughout this past year. I traveled to the mountains of TN to stitch with girlfriends and make quilts. I did manage to very simply machine quilt two while I was there and the receivers were extremely happy to receive them. I also made a reindeer quilt for my grandson who is now 7 and in the second grade. It fits his double bed and was a real trial for me to machine quilt. I am so not good at that!

I am sending the book and all fabric remains to my quilt friend Jill who is supposed to make this quilt also. She bought the fabrics at the same time! That might have been in 2007 or 2008. Well you know that fabric has to age before it can be used - all quilters know that!

I read a lot of books this past year also. Most of them were new but I had to visit with old friends also. Most of them I read on my kindle so there was no heavy lifting and turning of pages!

I have promised myself to finish my challenge from 2011 and stitch at least 1 or 2 new pieces. Hopefully these will all be from my stash. My husband and daughter stand in my sewing room and shake their heads. I made mention of giving my quilt fabric away - just keeping the quilt kits I had made up and make up a few more - but they both said not to do that (give away the fabric). I may still give some way. Let's be honest here ladies and gents, just how long am I going to be able to cut, sew, hand quilt and bind. I'm 60 now and how long are the eyes and hands going to last. I realize that I started talking about my stash (cross stitch) and finished with my quilting but they are housed in the same room - small room too. Remember I live in a single wide trailer! Not much room for zippidy do da but I make do. Lucky for me, my husband is not a collector and his stuff is in the shed! (along with 2 4-wheelers and a dirt bike) This is dirt road living at its best!

Nicole get your stitching mojo back soon. I miss the pictures of your stitching. Siobhan keep adding those pictures of Ireland. I love them! (Irish and Scottish heritage from my Mum) sorry Dad - you were Irish and Mum was Scottish.

Happy Stitching to all and a healthy New Year.
My husband is finally moving down here to SC. WooHoo! a married women again! Now that's going to put a quirk in my system of doing what I want when I want. After 1 1/2 years apart, I am going back to fixing dinner on a somewhat regular schedule, cleaning house a little more often with another person in the house, laundry more often. You get the picture. Yes, I am happy that he is finally moving here. It has been long enough. I will still have to travel back to Ohio as my Mom, sister, and sister-in-law are still there along with lots of girlfriends! Plus there is an actual cross stitch store that is not 2 1/2hrs away - it's only 30 minutes! I normally order on line from Amy at http://downsunshinelane.com/ or one of the other online stores to spread the wealth but sometimes you just want to feel the fabric or actually hold the chart in your hand to see if that is really what you want to purchase. You get the idea. OK enough of the poor me.

Did you all enjoy the WEDDING? I loved it. I've probably watched it 5 times with all of the repeats on the TV. Enjoyed it everytime!

I did finish another of the Crazy January Challenge pieces. I'll have pics next time I promise. Cross my heart! Amy is also hosting another gathering of stitchers at The French Hen on June 4. Anyone besides me going? I'll have to e-mail Hildit to see if she is going as we rode together last time.

Well talk to you later.

Happy Stitching!Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00624577865511619393noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6225800420798292036.post-36266769486685852442011-04-09T12:08:00.000-07:002011-04-09T12:08:04.479-07:00Lot of catching up to do!Hello All,
Well things have progressed here. I had a wonderful visit/stitching session with Amy and the gang at The French Hen in March. I met a lot of very nice stitchers from the immediate area although some may have been from North Carolina which is just next door so to speak. Lots of pretty stitching was shown.

Then the next Saturday Paul came for a visit for a week. We raced around - he is looking for a job here - filling out applications or getting information. The grandson stayed with us every night but one and Grandpa took him to school each morning. The poor child had to ride the bus home. Paul took all of us out to dinner once because I like to eat out - Paul and daughter Christina could care less about eating out but Sebastian and I love to. Paul left for Ohio on the 25th and I was sick all day - just overload of people I think as I was right as rain on Sunday.

Before he left he took pictures of stitching for me so I am going to try to insert them here. They are just progress pictures but you can see that I had been stitching!
Housework Never Killed Anyone from Lizzie*Kate finished in March and I think it's finish #4.

I would like to take the time to thank Hildit and William for taking me with them to The French Hen. His driving was very smooth -no car sickness- and I should be able to find my way back with Hildit as my passenger. So much fun to have a travel companion.

I have been listening to books on tape as I stitch. J D Robb's ...in Death - ones that I have missed reading. I have The Last Queen -C W Gortner to read next. I Kindled Sean Keefer's The Trust and enjoyed it. It's his first novel. He lives in Charleston but is from Loris so it was included in the book. I also watch movies - especially ones that I have already seen as I don't have to pay strict attention to them afraid that I'll miss something important.

I can hear a crow out the window. Did you know that crows have two languages? I didn't either until I watched Nature on PBS. What a HOOT! Have you seen the eagle babies? If you go to http://www.withthyneedleandthread.blogspot.com/ she has several spots on the blog that will direct you to the eagles. What a sight!

I enjoy reading everyones blogs. I don't always leave a comment but please know that I always look forward to reading and seeing stitching! Updates with Mia, Stewey, the 3 Pugs and puppy, and all of the others are welcome too.

I will try to update more often and not this hit or miss that I have been doing. You would think that being here (SC) and semi retired (I don't leave home to go to a regular job) I would have oodles of items stitched or quilted. Not! I am not organized but I am having fun and that's what counts when you are almost 60.

So to date, I have finished 'Sampling Halloween', 'Quaker Christmas Sampler', and 'Merry Christmas'.

Well as you can see my picture taking skills have not improved as this last one is blurry. Maybe one day I will have all co-ordinated and show you a wonderful picture of some stitchy thing. Right now I am stitching on 'Housework Never Killed Anyone' from Lizzie*Kate. I also completed the top vine work on the border of 'This is the Day' to see if I had enough fabric left on the L side for framing and luckily I do. That was a relief. I also worked on "Matter's Choice" and finished the top border type area and stitched the L bird and started the 'snow' in the background.

On the quilting front I finished the twin size quilt top that I had started for baby Margaret. The batting has been allowed to breath and now I have to make the backing fabric and layer and pin. I am going to try to simple quilt it on the machine. What can go wrong? I don't like it and take it all out (which I have done before).

Weather is nice here. Daytime in the 60's and nights in the 30's. I will take SC over OH anytime for the weather. The SUN is shining!

My thoughts and prayers go to all of those who have lost a relative or loved one. Also to the people of KY and TN in their weather related troubles. And with all of the flood waters being in the news, let's not forget to 'turn around - don't drown'!

Well, I guess this is all for now. Keep those fingers busy!

Happy Stitching!
A friend - Debby - had wanted to see a few of my quilts so here are a few pics. I hope you enjoy them also.
It is Folk Art Angel - Block of the Month from Cabin Fever Designs (Robyn Pandolph - designer) 1995. I made the quilt with my Mother's help as we hand appliqued. It was done in 1996. I had it machine quilted by a friend and co-worker Mickey. What a great friend! Here are the rest of the quilt blocks.
These are from back in 1991 and 1992 when the book first hit the market. They are both hand appliqued and hand quilted with blocks and sashing done on the machine.

Hope you had fun reading and looking at pictures today. I'll try not to include so many pics in one post in the future as I know it takes time to download. I just hope that I can remember what I did to capture the pics and then post. Faulty memory.

I hope you all stay warm and dry. Please send prayers to those fellow stitchers that have family issues at the moment - family death, illness, loss of beloved pet.

Until next time Happy Stitching!

As you can see not much is done on any one piece but I have great hopes of completing all of them and more before the end of the year. Yes I did change the challenge a bit to include my 3 WIPs but I'm sure I will be forgiven. And to show you that I really am stitching Christmas at HOH for the second time here is a pic of the first one. It developed a whole in the fabric and I was not able to repair it to my satisfaction so I started again. Lucky me!
I hope to have my act together as I have now figured out this picture business. I will try to blog more often than 3 times in one year or was it 4. I will try to post progress pictures as I stitch but I make no BIG promises.

Yes, my husband is still living in Ohio and I am still living in SC. What a life! He has promised me that we will be together by the end of the year if not sooner. He is still looking for a job here is SC while working in OH. We are going to plan our 60th birthday party for the summer in Ohio as that is where our friends reside. (And now you know how old I will be this year!)

So long for now.
Happy Stitching!Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00624577865511619393noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6225800420798292036.post-87863975366735345942011-01-12T13:36:00.000-08:002011-01-12T14:09:54.541-08:00Long time away!Well it has been an awful long time since I blogged and I really have no good excuse other than - I just didn't. I have been very busy reading blogs and enjoyed every minute.

I must state now that I am one of probably close to 100 that have joined the 15 Challenge of 2011 where you start one project each day for the first 15 days of the year. Well let me tell you I am a complete failure so far. I have managed to start 6 new projects and restart one WIP so I have been stitching. No I still do not have pictures but soon... I think I need to take lessons on how to coordinate pictures and blogs.

The sun was finally out today and it was heavenly! My poor car is in sensory overload as it thought it was moving to a warmer climate since it has to live outside now instead of its former warm garage. It hasn't taken kindly to the ice covering of the past 2 days or the below 30* temps. Poor baby!

I am blogging on my new computer. It's a laptop and my old desktop went home to Ohio with my husband. This was a Christmas gift from him. And since my sister gave me her Kindle - don't ask - he also bought me a cover for it. Did I make out or what? I bought him a Garmin GPS unit for his car as he seems to have trouble finding his way around - especially down here in SC. (He did get lost on the way back to Ohio in September going the old way through TN but we won't talk about that.) The beach area totally freaks him out as to where he should be to go where? He will find his way one day.

Back to the Challenge - I have only seen on one blog postings of stitching. And she has been very busy. I realize that the challenge was to be all new projects pulled from our stash but I have had to include some WIP that I really want to finish/keep working on. I have a tendency to start large projects, get tired, stitch something else, and then eventually go back to the large project again. Or maybe just start another new large project! I know none of you would do anything like that!

I would like to start a blog of stitchery items for sale but until I have some picture taking/showing knowledge that will have to wait. I did have some finished projects last year so I do have some things to show.

I think I will end this session now and hopefully I will receive some comments back - if only to say HI!
Thank you all for your time and as always,

Happy Stitching!Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00624577865511619393noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6225800420798292036.post-15218335565978866652010-05-16T19:25:00.000-07:002010-05-16T20:02:08.109-07:00It has been an extremely long time since I posted. I have been reading everyone else on their blogs and have enjoyed myself and yes I do leave comments but not every time I visit. I love looking at the stitching projects both finished and unfinished.

I have been very busy with other projects and here is my big news! The dreaded white quilt is finally finished and on it's way back to it's owner! Woo Hoo! No more feathered borders to quilt! Woo Hoo! I now have to quilt a lap size quilt which you quilters may remember - Snowbound - The Winter Quilt by Red Wagon - primitive applique blocks. This belongs to one of my former quilt students and lucky for me she is in no hurry for it. Maybe I will take a little time off quilting and cross stitch for a while. I would like to get block #10 of Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow finished before picking up the quilting again.

I have also be busy around the house. We have GRASS!!! Ok so it's only in the front yard but at least we have it. I water it faithfully daily or every other if the weather is not too hot. And it's kind of hot here, high 80's and it's only the middle of May - but I guess this is what it is in SC. Yes I am a transplant from Ohio and no I did not miss the winter in Ohio - my husband got to enjoy it all by himself!

Speaking of the husband, he was here visiting for the grandson's birthday and we have a wonderful visit. Grandson in the afternoon after school so Husband and I had all day to visit or travel around the countryside. He worked at our daughter's house down the road on several days - erecting a pool in the backyard, trimming weeds (and a bush or two), watering new grass, water proofing the porch steps, and stuff like that. She was at home to help on several of these projects while I finished up the quilting and binding.

When I came home from Ohio in April, I brought back with me all of my quilts and wallhangings. What a mess! I finally went through the bags (6 large black trash) again today and decided what to give away, what to keep, and what to sell. Plus I have a very small stack of tops to finish into quilts. So much to do and so little time.

Sorry again for no pictures of stitching. Husband sent pics of the house with Grass but I have no idea on how to move the pic here for you to see. Sorry I am a failure at this but just give me time and I'm sure to catch on. I will try and borrow my daughter's camera and take pics of my stitching and maybe she can figure out how to place it here.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week. May you enjoy good health.
Blessings!
Happy Stitching!Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00624577865511619393noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6225800420798292036.post-12259875402001097662010-02-05T11:19:00.000-08:002010-02-05T11:34:03.061-08:00Sorry still no pics still no camera!

It is cold here in SC. OK not as cold as some parts of the country but for us, with the rain, it feels cold. Boo Hoo!

I have finished block #11 except for the background of Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow. I have made just a small start on #10 (one crown). I am stuck on Block #2 of the Vof HRH but promise to get back to it soon. I have already placed my order for Autumn at Hawk Run Hollow. I have seen 3 pics so far and just love it. They are on Kathy's blog Carriage House Samplings & Mo Jewelry and they are wonderful.

I am off the pick up grandson, Sebastian, soon and pick up dinner later. He told me yesterday he wants Chinese lo mein noodles and I will have my usual chick and broc and maybe as a treat I'll get their donuts.

I have another week to go until my husband gets here for a visit. Paul and I haven't seen each other since Dec 31 when I left Ohio to beat the snow. SC is enjoying much better weather even if it is raining again better than snow and ice. We did have some ice last weekend but just 1 evening and morning. We can live with that!

Happy Stitching and stay warm!
SusanSusanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00624577865511619393noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6225800420798292036.post-81646987892378243602010-01-23T19:31:00.000-08:002010-01-23T19:51:50.025-08:00Thank you ladies for your welcome.

I don't have a lot to show, actually nothing to show but I am stitching on Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow and a freebie from PrimitiveBettys.

I did manage to empty about 24 boxes and have about 16 more to empty before my husband arrives with another van load from Ohio. I have only lived here in this house in SC since the 27th of November and most of my furniture is still in OH. I do have control of all of my stitching as it traveled with me. My quilting fabrics and patterns/books came down on the truck with the husband and they are all unpacked and put away - we do have to have our prioritites in the right order. (Please excuse any and all spelling errors as I had 4 hrs of sleep before sitting with a 5yr all day.)

I promise to include pictures of past stitched and framed items and maybe even post a little about me next time. Hopefully husband Paul will bring the camera and take pictures to post. What a thrill!!

This is the first time in almost 38 years that Paul and I have been apart this long. I really feel for the military families that are seperated as I am not liking this one bit!

I am going to go hit the quilt stores on Monday. Hopefully one of them will need some help as I have had lots of experience - 18 years in the shop with 15 years teaching quilting. The shop also sold counted cross stitch and I worked with that section of the shop for several years also. Does anyone out there remember The Daisy Barrel in Fairborn Oh? (Fairborn is the home of Wright Patterson Air Force Base) the owners of the shop have all retired and closed the shop - that is where I worked and stitched. We had a great group of ladies - both owners and workers.

Well I have rambled on enough. Thanks for reading. Happy stitching and no sticky fingers!Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00624577865511619393noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6225800420798292036.post-7088898703400168042010-01-08T11:51:00.000-08:002010-01-08T12:00:04.797-08:00The NewbieThis is the first day of my blog. Please be kind if you do read this and offer any advice you would like.

I was a cross stitcher then moved to quilting for about 25 years or so and have just gotten back into cross stitching again about 3 years now. I am working my way back into linen but it is a slow process. I have done several items on Hardangar - CHS Sweet Humility and am working on her VoHRH and CatHRH. I am also hand quilting for someone and hope to be done with it in the next 2 months.

I enjoy reading other blogs from stitchers to see what they are currently working on. I love to see their progress. I am a very slow stitcher - a much faster quilter.

I will sign off now as I have to pick up the grandson from school. Until later. Happy Stitching!Susanhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00624577865511619393noreply@blogger.com3
